Go buy my second sole
Puma released the second pair of flip flops I designed for them this week (this came first.) I love the colour of the strap but I'm a little sad they stretched the design and lost the plug near the heel.
Screw you manufacturing gaffes.

Go buy my sole!
Yesterday, after much dilly dallying I finally took out time to visit the Puma store and check out my brand new, super kitsch flip flop design #1.After looking around for exactly 5 seconds (I was too impatient to get my hands on them and didn't want to waste time searching) I asked the salesgirl for assistance. She pointed them out and then I saw them... Sitting pretty, in all equality, amidst all the lovely Puma footwear. They were big ( a size 10), had a sturdy base unlike other flip flops and I'm pretty sure I heard them calling out to me. (Also, is this what it feels like to have a child?)
So after taking about twenty pictures on my phone camera, thanking the salespeople for obliging and walking out the store, I realised that I was largely happy with the outcome (it's not everyday that artsy fartsy kids get to put their handy work on a branded flip flop.) However, needless to say, being the one that drew out the design from scratch, I am a wee bit disappointed with the nitty-gritties; like how they stretched the design, or didn't add detailing on the guy's t-shirt or lost a big chunk of the purple, or priced it so much more than I thought they would!
Anyway, I'm going to stop complaining. Go buy my sole!

A Gif Gift
I make things for people most of the time.
So it's only normal that i'd appreciate it tremendously, if things were made for me.
Even it was a .gif.
Thanks to the mad talented BB.
No one has ever made me a gift or a gif before.
P.S: Also, there's a giant XO there for a split second before the 'happy birthday.' Did you notice?

Elephant Hanger Knobs
I really love it when small boutiques customize their interiors down to the littlest of things to reflect what they're selling.
This little hanger knob sat quietly in the changing room at Global Desi, a boutique retailing ethnic wear.
The little elephant's counterparts?
Birdies and Hindu motifs.
The whole store was done up superbly well too.
It was all purple, pink, silver and filled with pretty in the window display.
On the inside, the proprietor had sorted out the clothes not according to kurtas and kurtis or silks and cottons but colors and prints! So she started with all the cool colors on the left - the blues, purples, greens, and then went on to the yellows, oranges and reds on the right.
Perfect segregation to find something festive, I think.
And all very lovely!
Plus, the store had yellow light, which, as I have always said, is a great source of fake warmth that an expensive boutique needs.

Shoes for Schmooze
What started with a face worth a graphic novel has now come to be sustained endorsement on a set of hyper groovy feet.
Siddis a stubborn Taurian who wouldn't budge from what he wanted on his first pair of canvas shoes.
I negotiated but in vain. When I was done, as it turned out, he really liked them but I didn’t.
But, this also meant that I had the freedom to do whatever I wanted on the second pair.
So I did.

This time, I liked how the shoes turned out but haven’t seen him wear them out in public just yet... probably because the guy on the shoe looks a little like Vasu, unintentionally though.
However, more shoes mean more schmooze.

And schmooze means more people wearing my work.
Love, love, love.
Love, love, love.

The Wall Project
Photo enthusiast and partner in crime Su, sent me a link to these pictures of The Wall Project when she spotted my back, my plane and my heartbroken ninjas under a raincloud.

Tees for Stereotypes

'Chlorine is my Perfume'
For the four girls who spent a whole year swimming 30 laps with me every morning/evening at the pool on the hill,
For the four girls who spent a whole year swimming 30 laps with me every morning/evening at the pool on the hill,
Here's hoping we all walk out of a liquid blue and into a something interesting in the near future.
Because there's really no other perfume that smells like chlorine.
And that really is quite exquisite, in a perverse kind of way!

'Fuck Coke, Let's Get High on Design'
For all the digital natives who spend a significant part of their day allowing design to mess with their head,
Here's hoping we find white space presumably as amazing as white powder to sweep us off our feet.
Because, after all, beauty and brains and pleasure and usability always go hand in hand.
